Developmental Functions

Krits provides supported housing services (62 flats, 22 half-way homes) and peer support services in the capital area. It has a peer support contact point Redis in Helsinki. The supported housing services are for homeless released prisoners in Helsinki or nearby.

The services of the foundation’s ombudsman for probation and after-care are national. Along with child and family work and educational training Krits also maintains an internet portal 'Portti vapauteen' (Gateway to Freedom) for released prisoners and their families as well as for social workers. The site offers useful advice, discussion forums, answer service of the ombudsman and the family worker, news, events calendars, interviews; handbooks and good practices for professionals, to-do-list for released prisoners, 'how it looks like in prison' for children.

All these actions were created as projects.

Projects in progress now comprises for example Mediation of Serious Crimes Project.

The activities of Krits are financed by the income from real estate owned by the foundation as well as by service activities. Most of Krits's projects are funded by the Finland’s Slot Machines Association (RAY).
